I am taking my son Palmer on a mission trip to Haiti, June 23-28th. For over 20 years our Church, St Philips Episcopal in Charleston,SC, has been a key partner in supporting the people of La Gonave, a small island of the west coast of Haiti. Our support has built 10 schools serving over 2900 Children and employees 165 teachers. Our partnership funds a Community Heath Center with a Doctor, nurses and 21 community health workers. Without our love and support these programs simply would not exist.
Congratulations to Alan Perry and the whole crew at Perry’s Emporium in Wilmington NC. Since November this jewelry superstore with 18 full time employees is up over 32% and that number is accelerating! Even more amazing that figure does not include a penny of gold and estate buying, a business that Perry’s Emporium dominates in Eastern North Carolina. To that point, one of the direct benefits to the gold buying business is that it has given Perry’s a market dominant advertising budget that Alan is shrewdly leveraging to explode his retail business. Alan, who is never shy about promoting his store, even offers his Rainy Day Guarantee. He self insures each diamond engagement ring so that if it rains on the customer’s wedding day, the customer’s ring is FREE! Yes it’s bold and gutsy, but then again…that is Alan Perry. As you can guess, Alan is also a natural on the radio with a deep baritone voice, and a warm, folksy Eastern Carolina accent. Read More “Perry’s Emporium has a blow away start with IMG”
I spoke to the Plexus jewelers group friday in Wilmington NC and as part of my
preparation for that I called one of the radio industries most fertile minds, Richard Harker
to find out the real state of radio in 2010. Here are the juicy parts of that discussion….
Business is firming
Traffic in the stores are returning to normal levels. Most of you are seeing real gains in repair traffic as customers are looking at their jewelry assets and fixing what they want to keep. While we are not seeing the casual shoppers in the stores, the folks with a purpose are coming in. It is our high level of service and strong reputation for quality that is driving that traffic.
